them kids
Totally random post, for lack of a more formidable subject matter, like atomic physics.
So yesterday, absolutely worn out and with a massive sleep debt, I headed home mob early to try n grab a few winks. Of course the prevailing power issue at the office helped much.
Reached the gate and was swarmed by the neighbours’ kids screaming Uncle DK, Uncle DK. Stopped n jazzed them for a while, until one quipped, “Uncle DK, I want to come to your house”. I went errrr…. in a split second, six rowdy kids were like, “we want to come to your house!!”. So I asked them whyyyy? And they went, “We want to watch Madagascar on your computer! Anti you don’t have a tv and dstv”.
*raised eyebrow… what nerve!!
So yeah, we went to my place, they made themselves comfy on the carpet as I set the laptop infront of the, connected the home-made subwoofer.
Then I couldn’t find the file. Took like a few minutes. The second youngest girl, she’s like two and a third years started chanting, “Madagascar!! Madagascar!!”. Next thing I knew, they were all chanting, some almost screaming.
Thankfully I found the file, and they all went “yaaaaay!”
Made myself comfy on the couch, and entered that wondrous land between wakefulness and sleep. And thus, were my ears assaulted:
“Aya, they have kicked him in the susu!”
“He has bited the zebra in the bums”
“That one only eats medicine”
“I want something to eat, wamma, Esther, we go and eat something”… “what do we eat?”… “we just go, i saw some binyebwa on the floor at home”
“What have you people eated?”
“NOOO! You silly boy, Madagascar was the lion!!”
“Uncle DK, Uncle DK, you see, this one was spoilt the movie” (dude had pressed oba the space bar)
“Leave Uncle DK alone, can’t you see he’s not breathing”
I woke up later to find the movie ended and the house eerily quiet. It was 8pm. Lil brats had headed home without so much as waking me.
The ungrateful things.
