Redemption

I lost a sister in a road accident a couple of weeks back.

On an obscure dirt road connecting a trading center and a tiny town.

We were returning from last funeral rites for my dad, my uncle and aunt, among others.

Imagine the irony.

I was in another car, couple of kilometers ahead.

We recieved a call from one of the passengers in the car behind, there had been an accident.

We turned round, rushed back, almost risking an accident ourselves.

Their car had lost control, and rolled three times.

She was in the back, she was flung out of the car on the first roll.

The car, an SUV, all 2000+ kg of it, passengers and all, then landed on her head.

There are some things people are not supposed to see.

Her skull was smashed. We saw hair, blood and brain.

We left pieces of her skull there.

I left something there. A huge huge huge part of me.

I’m scared.

I’m messed up on so many levels.

I need to grieve, I cannot.

I need to move on, I cannot.

I need to focus, I cannot.

I cannot do anything.

And I’m so so scared.
