Fido Dido Gone
Yesterday on my way home, i passed via kampala road, i noticed that in place of the then fading Fido Dido sign post(?), there was now a Hot Chips or something sign. Am sad, not because i liked fido dido or anything like that, but just because all of a sudden, kampala is no longer recognizable.
am outta here

fido dido is gone? i pass by kampala road every morning and i haven’t noticed yet! hmmm…
there is a conspiracy theory about bu-eating places that crop up alla time on Kampala road. ask around and you will hear it.

Nooo. Not Fido. Dido. It sure seems weird not to have Fido Dido.

Thank God.
That place was a mess. The ice cream was horrible! Remember in January when it was closed for selling spoilt ice cream and packaging ice cream in unwashed containers? It needed to close.
“Kampala is no longer recognizable …”
Hahahahahahahaha! Dude, sniff the air, smell the dust, jump over a pool of sewerage, drive into a pothole … Kampala is the same old dump.

yeah but the buildings are being replaced by mostly more crappy buildings. you can hardly look at any place in kampala nowadays with any nostalgia

I never really went to Fido Dido. Except waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day. But it was a landmark of sorts, defined that particular corner of Kampala.
I hate the new buildings coming up, they all look rushed and un-finished, especially that one right opposite former Fido Dido. The blue windows just look tacky.
Some of the only buildings I like are that fancy new thing on Bombo road (opposite YMCA) and the one with the new Umeme offices, oba it’s the road above Lumumba avenue.
They both have a certain je ne sais qoui…
