This title will only make sense to someone who knows something about guitars. I was watching a movie today, nice movie etc etc, will talk about it sometime.

So how does this connect to the title and guitars in general? Here’s an excerpt from a scene in the movie:

And then Harold saw it, a damaged and terribly mistreated green Fender staring back at him. Despite it’s obvious maladies, the guitar spoke with conviction and swagger. In fact, it looked Harold directly in the eye and very plainly stated:

“I ROCK!”

I like guitars, I’ve always wanted to own one, always wanted to play one ever since I saw Tom and Gerry. You know that episode where his Uncle from the country visits? The chap who keeps singing some wicked country songs and using Tom’s whiskers for guitar strings? Yeah, that guy made me love guitars. Also, WHEN I grew up(ish), something else kicked in; The whole campfire by the beach serenading the dame of your life thing.

I’ve borrowed guitars from friends n learnt my first few licks. I’m not good enough to brag, but hey, I can strum Old McDonald. Wooohooo! Oh yeah, Little Brown Jug too, among other simple tunes. And I even know a few tunes in classical guitar, like about 5 seconds of this Spanish guitar ballad, “Maguelena”… caramia! tres romantique, non? Now if only I could get my voice to co-operate.

I’m not really into electric guitars right now, though. I’m more of a classical guitar chap, but the title feels right, so bear with me.

Aaaaanyways, in the same movie, there’s a really nice song, need to download it. Plus I found the guitar TAB for it, looks simple, only two chords, so imma try it out sometime.

   The song is in the part where the dame invites Harold to her place, and he picks up the guitar while she does the dishes.

   Needless to say, she didn’t waste time expressing herself while he played. Damn I need to learn that tune.
